The Gregory R. Mundy Fellowship
Congratulations to Benjamin Frisch our 2013 Gregory R. Mundy Fellowship Winner! The Gregory R. Mundy Review Committee received outstanding applications for the 2013 Gregory R. Mundy Fellowship. Benjamin Frisch obtained his Ph.D. in 2012 from University of Rochester. His research has had a translational focus, with an interest in microenvironment support for the hematopoietic stem cell (HSC). His Ph.D. thesis focused on alterations of the bone marrow microenvironment induced by myeloid malignancies. The award will be presented at the 13th International Conference on Cancer-Induced Bone Disease in Miami on Friday, 8 November from 5:30-6:00PM.
IBMS Gregory R. Mundy Fellowship on Cancer-Induced Bone Disease
Gregory Mundy’s career was one of consistent, outstanding achievement during four decades in bone cell biology and its control by hormones and cytokines, the implications of this for osteoporosis, and most notably, for the skeletal complications of cancer. His research has been acknowledged by many prestigious awards, and his leadership was exemplary as President of IBMS, co-founder and President of the Cancer and Bone Society (CABS), President of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) and a tireless worker for the many editorial boards on which he served. Support is a one-year, non-renewable 40,000 USD grant payable to the successful applicant’s institution. No overhead may be paid from the fellowship. Applicants must be members of IBMS or an IBMS Member Society.

2012 Gregory R. Mundy Fellowship winner, Michelle McDonald, was presented her award by IBMS Vice President, Theresa Guise at the 12th International Conference on Cancer-Induced Bone Disease Meeting in Lyon, France.
